BECK
The next few weeks melted into a blur of schoolwork, parties, and messing around with Finn.
Our course loads kept us busy. And I didnât get to spend nearly as much time with him as I wanted to. And it was all my fault.
I wasnât ready to attend any more LGBT club events.
For one, I was positive everyone had witnessed me groping Finn on the dance floor, and it was hard to pretend to only be an ally when Iâd had my tongue down his throat when the lights had come up.
Cora and Mina hadnât said anything when Iâd seen them around campus, but that didnât mean they hadnât seen us.
Finn understood and went to the events alone to meet up with his new friends, and I attended the usual parties with Alex and sometimes Matt. That meant we only saw each other for a few hours at night during the week when weâd study together in my room and during the day on weekends.
Finn had come up with a creative way to help me study for econ that involved lots of blow jobs and kisses when I got answers right. It was fun, but I was craving more.
I usually had no trouble asking for what I wanted, and Finn had shown on more than one occasion that he was happy to go at my pace, but something was holding me back.
I didnât know if it was because our status as friends who fucked kept a barrier between us or if it was because I wasnât ready to take the final step, even though I thought about it constantly.
Fantasizing about fucking Finn had become my new favorite jerk-off fodder. I loved the idea of it, but would the actual act be too much?
It was stupid and made zero sense, but my fucked-up brain couldnât take that final leap.
âBeck!â
I turned my head. âKatelynn, hi.â
She scurried toward me, her arms full of books.
âHow are you?â she asked brightly, falling into step beside me.
âIâm good. How have you been?â
âGood. Busy.â She made a face. âCollege is so different from high school. So much more homework.â
âYou get used to it.â
âI hope so.â
We walked in silence.
âSo, I turned eighteen last weekend.â
Her words were casual, but their meaning set off alarm bells in my head.
âHappy belated birthday.â I gave her what I hoped was a friendly smile.
âThanks.â She bit her lip. âMaybe we can hang out now?â
I stopped walking. âThatâs a really sweet offer, but I donât think so. Not like that.â
âOh.â Her face fell. âSorry. I just thought⦠never mind. Iâm going to go die now.â She darted away, but I caught her arm.
âIâm flattered, really. But Iâm seeing someone.â
I snapped my mouth shut. Iâd been about to tell her I wasnât looking for anything right now and that even though she was eighteen, we were in different places in our lives, so it wouldnât be smart.
Instead, a vision of Finn sitting on my bed last night, gesticulating animatedly as he explained how the moon had formed, had flashed in my mind, and the words had spilled out of me.
